The way people discover businesses is changing. Not slowly – rapidly. Live markdown conversion. Getmd fetches your web pages in real time, strips out the noise – navigation, scripts, styling, cookie banners – and converts the actual content into clean markdown. No manual file creation. No static exports that go stale. Your content is converted live and cached on a schedule you control, as frequently as every five minutes.

A dedicated AI-readable subdomain. Every Getmd customer gets a subdomain (e.g., yoursite.getmd.ai) that serves your entire website as clean markdown. llms.txt hosting. Getmd generates and serves your llms.txt file – the discovery standard that tells AI systems what your website is about and where to find your most important content. AI crawler analytics. This is the part that doesn’t exist anywhere else. Getmd tracks every request that AI crawlers make to your content – which bots are visiting, which pages they’re hitting, how often they return, what response codes they’re getting, and how those patterns change over time. Why this matters now

The numbers are hard to ignore. Gartner projected that search engine query volume would drop 25% by 2026 due to AI assistants. HubSpot’s research found that ChatGPT converts at 15.9% and Perplexity at 10.5% – both significantly higher than average organic search.

The token waste problem

To understand why format matters so much, you need to understand how AI systems process web content.

Every AI system has a context window – a finite amount of text it can process in a single interaction. Text is measured in tokens (roughly ¾ of a word). When an AI system fetches a web page to answer a user’s question, every token counts.

A typical web page served as raw HTML consumes over 16,000 tokens. Navigation menus, JavaScript bundles, CSS classes, tracking pixels, schema markup, footer links – all of it gets tokenised. The actual content – the text a human would read – typically accounts for less than 20% of those tokens.

The same content served as clean markdown? Around 3,000 tokens. All content. No waste.

When an AI system is choosing between two sources to answer a question, the one that delivers clean, efficient content has a significant advantage. It’s faster to process, cheaper to compute, and the content-to-noise ratio means the AI system can extract more useful information from the same token budget.

How it works (without the jargon)

Setting up Getmd takes about five minutes:

Add your website. Enter your domain in the Getmd dashboard. We create a dedicated subdomain for your AI-readable content.
Configure your llms.txt. Use our editor to write the discovery file that tells AI systems about your website. We provide templates and guidance for different industries and website types.
